Today, Randel and I headed out early to meet up with Carin and Mark. We joined them for a day trip out in their boat into the Hauraki Gulf, the idea being to catch snapper. We had a great day, the fishing was quite good, the weather was wonderful and the company was even better.
Come 6pm, Mark started the engine and we left the shores of Waiheke Island to head back home. A few minutes later, his engine overheats which causes dark smoke to billow into the enclosed section of the boat. After a minute of panic, we realised there was no fire onboard and Randel and Mark set about trying to get the motor going again. Apparently due to something having blown due to overheating, there was no getting the boat going again.
Our day therefore ended quite late (about 10.30pm) and quite eventfully with us having to wait for the coastguard to tow us in. A day to remember for sure....

Thank Goodness for the Coastguard
Oh dear! Glad you're okay and there wasn't a fire!
